About RethinkDB

RethinkDB is a JSON document based, distributed database with an integrated administration console and rich querying language known as ReQL. The administration view gives control of the cluster's configuration and provides a window into its performance. ReQL, a rich query language, with autocompletion, command history and built in documentation is built around function chaining and is available in client libraries for JavaScript, Python and Ruby. With ReQL it is possible to utilize RethinkDB's server-side features such as distributed joins and subqueries across the cluster's nodes.

On Oct 5th, 2016, the company behind RethinkDB announced that it was shutting down. On February 6, 2017, The Cloud Native Computing Foundation relicensed RethinkDB under the Apache License 2.0. after purchasing the rights to the source code.

Compose continues to host RethinkDB deployments and offers the ability to provision new ones.
