DigitalOcean Location, Location, Location - Where Next for MongoHQ?
PublishedAt MongoHQ, we love to get customer input on where we expand our cloud presence. At the moment we're faced with one of those choices. Our arrival on DigitalOcean has been a huge hit for us. They were already our most requested provider, thanks in no small part to their ability to bring up an SSD backed cloud instance in less than a minute and plug it into Tier-1 networking. Once we'd launched we found those requests were just the tip of the iceberg.
It's been a great experience deploying with DigitalOcean and we want to do it again. Right now we're only in one location, New York City, but we are bringing our plans forward and want to get another presence up and running as soon as possible. We've narrowed the choices down for our next location to San Francisco or London but we can't narrow it down any further. Both locations have the latest in DigitalOcean's awesome SSD-backed hosting with fantastic connectivity.
- San Francisco is home to so many startups and beyond. So many startups appear there for whom MongoHQ's databases at a click are a perfect match. It's also close to our roots as a company and as a well established market, its a safe choice.
- London is the up and comer with one of the newest DigitalOcean datacentres. It's already powering the UK startup scene by bringing reduced latency to the UK and Europe. With London and UK startups booming and all ideal users for MongoHQ's easy database deployment, putting a new presence in London would be a good choice too.
This is where you come in. We want you to pick which DigitalOcean datacentre should become the next home for a MongoHQ presence. You can choose our new datacenter and tell us whether you want more MongoHQ in DigitalOcean's London or San Francisco datacentres.
Update: The poll is now closed. Want to find which location we went with? Read the results - you'll be surprised.
