In this weeks Noteworthy on Compose, customers will notice that SoftLayer regions are no longer visible in the Compose UI or API when provisioning new databases (except on Compose Enterprise). Don't worry, your databases on SoftLayer will continue to work. If you want to provision new databases on SoftLayer, you'll be redirected to IBM Cloud.
This week you might have noticed that we've removed SoftLayer as a data center from the Compose UI and API. If you are a new customer who wants to provision databases on SoftLayer, we're redirecting you to sign up for IBM Cloud Databases on IBM Cloud, the next generation of Compose databases (This does not apply to Compose Enterprise customers.).
Compose customers who currently have databases provisioned on SoftLayer don't need to worry, however. Your databases still will continue to work as they always have. You'll be able to backup and restore your databases to the same SoftLayer region as was available to you before. However, if you want to provision entirely new databases on SoftLayer, you'll have to do that on IBM Cloud for now on.
For Compose customers who do not have databases provisioned with SoftLayer, but want to take IBM Cloud Databases for a spin, click on the link to take a look at the various databases that are currently offered, and sign up on IBM Cloud.
